Five For Friday 1/10/14

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

1. Medical Stuff:

  • Snowmageddon and the Polar Vortex cancelled PT.
  • I got in 3 days of Home Rehab.
  • I had prolotherapy Friday morning. (Post to come).
  • I saw the gyno Friday afternoon and scared the nurses because my heart rate was over 200 sitting. I am wondering if it was a response to being in pain from the prolo? Right now, I still have quite a bit of pain, but my heart rate is 70. Having POTS is so strange. You never know what your body is going to do. SIDENOTE: Remind me not to schedule other appointments on prolo days. Not sure what I was thinking on that one…

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 1 day of PT. I met another patient with EDS!
  • 1 class of Zumba. An hour and a half of Zumba with Denise is no joke.
  • 1 day of home rehab.
  • I was supposed to go to Mishawaka (IN) to get prolo shots on Thursday but had to cancel because of weather. I’m rescheduled for Friday so fingers crossed that the weather cooperates.

Prolotherapy Through My Eyes

I started prolotherapy treatments in 2011.  I have lost count as to how many I’ve had. I have learned along the way that prolotherapy is controversial in the world of EDS. The first EDS doctor I saw after I was diagnosed actually did not recommend it, although he admitted he did not know much about it. At that time, I was having a horrible time keeping my back and head supported without a neck or back brace. That doctor actually diagnosed me with cranial instability and sent me on my way with a referral to a spine surgeon, telling me he suspected the surgeon would determine that I needed a skull to C-3 fusion.
