Dad
“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.”
Dear Dad,
I wanted to start my note to you with that quote. It is one of the biggest things I think of when I think of you. You have always cheered me on no matter what, you have always been my biggest fan, and you have instilled in me that I must always stand up for what I believe in, I must always work hard, and stay humble along the way. YOU, Dad, have always believed in me, and for that I am forever grateful.
I always think of it as an honor when people tell me, “You are definitely your Dad’s daughter.” I love that I have developed your sense of humor, your stubbornness, and your work ethic. I am still waiting to develop your culinary skills though.
I know you would give any of us kids the world if you could. But guess what? You already have by loving us.
Thank you for always being there when we needed you. For cooking and cooking and cooking for us. For still bringing me soup, applesauce, Gatorade, and saltines when I am sick. For still giving me “noogies” instead of the sign of peace at church (God understands). For marrying and loving Mom. For making our dreams yours because you knew they meant so much to us. Thank you for all of the Jimmy Buffett concerts growing up, for instilling in us to always recognize that freedom is not free, and for loving us with your whole heart. Thank you for all the time, money, and energy you spent in the gym so we could do the sport that we loved. Thank you for making sure we had the best childhoods, full of beautiful memories and love. Thank you for being the man that you are.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. You are loved more than you will ever know.
Your biggest fan,
Kate (Goosey)
