Chapter 1: School

I told Zondra the other day (the afternoon teacher in our classroom) that I finally felt like the kids and I were getting into a rhythm.  She agreed that she felt the same way in the afternoons.

The procedures are established, the kids have adjusted, I have adjusted, and we are finally into the “meat” of things.  Sounds, letters, numbers, the 5 senses, pumpkins, art projects, storytelling, and the list goes on…

Five For Friday 9/17/11 +1

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

I’m starting to think that maybe I should just re-name this “Six for Saturday.”  Hopefully next week, I will actually be able to post on Friday.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 3 Days of Home Rehab (I did much better on the rehab front this week, and low and behold, my pain level went down).
  • 1 session of PT.  I spent most of the time on the Reformer.  I am thankful Katie did not ease up on me (after the fact).  As I walked in looking like one tired, dragging, hot mess, I believe her quote was, “On the Reformer, you’ll love me later.”
  • I had my monthly appointment with Larry (Sports Med doc/captain of my medical team).  He worked hard at putting my lower ribs back into place.  He also did some gentle neck manipulations.   The best part of the appointment?  We did not have to fill out any paperwork, or come up with any kind of life plan BECAUSE I am now living out all of the planning we did together throughout the past year.  It’s pretty amazing to see that all of our planning paid off.  The second best part?  Larry was beaming with pride that I am working again.  Last year at this time we both thought that working was not going to be possible for me anymore.  Thank GOD for him and my medical team.  I am so blessed.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT.  That was an interesting session since it was right after I received my very scary certified letter  from the school district (See this post.)  Let’s just say, I have never pounded the peddles of the recumbent bike so hard.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.  Working on my stubborn lower scaps!
  • Faxed more medical records.  Office Max and I are becoming real tight.
