Moving On

Dear Loyal Readers,

About five months ago, my great friend, Sebastian, who does web design came to me with the idea of me leaving Blogger, and creating my own website.  He explained that there were so many more opportunities out there by creating my own domain name, and starting my own website.

I laughed at him.  I blew him off and made it clear that I blogged for ME and I was comfortable with Blogger.  I had the mentality that, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…”

50 Goals Progress Report 6 1/2 Months In

Written by Katie. Posted in Goals

We are more than halfway through 2011.  Crazy.  I figured it was time to revisit my goals and see where I am.

Goals are a beautiful thing.  They keep me focused and driven. They keep me pressing on.  I am thankful for my many years as an athlete where we were expected to set goals regularly and keep track of our progress.  Goals keep me in the zone.
Dr. Lavallee told me at the end of my appointment in January to make sure I have goals set; both long-term and short term.  He stressed that is always important to be working towards something; especially when illness is involved.  I couldn’t agree more.
It is interesting to look back and see the goals I set for myself back in January.  It is also interesting to look at the new goals I have set for myself 6 months later.  I have definitely learned that goals must be flexible and at times need to be altered as life happens.
Anyways, here is my “mid-year” goals progress report.

Energy Smarts

I had my monthly Larry appointment today.  At my April appointment, Larry graded my Apollo 13 homework assignment he had given me after I spent my March appointment with him in serious meltdown mode tears about life in general.  After I received my A++, Larry gave me another assignment, which was due today.  My assignment was to show some kind of scale that represented things I COULD do on a 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% energy day.

This assignment was meant to help me reframe my thoughts.  So instead of getting upset and saying something like, “Oh my goodness, it’s a 25% energy day and I can’t dust the house,” I could instead look at it as, “It may be a 25% energy day but I CAN do a load of laundry, some floor exercises, and post on my blog.”

Five for Friday…a little late 2/27/11

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

I’ve been soaking up every bit of family time since we had Andy’s Army going away party on Friday. Since I have been low on sleep with all of the excitement, my down time has been spent resting, recovering, and replenishing my spoons…Needless to say blogging has gone by the wayside this weekend, but I should be able to get back on track since prolotherapy round 2 is tomorrow and I will be laying low for the next few days.

1.  Medical Stuff:
  • 2 days of PT.
  • The PT student did her In-service on EDS and I went to answer questions and educate the therapists from a patient’s perspective.  I will definitely be blogging more about this.
  • 2 days of Home Rehab.
