Bullets
- I’m back from Philly. What a fabulous, hot girls trip! Did I mention hot? If these are June and early July temps, then I am scared for August. My POTS is being a trooper, but it definitely does not like these 100 degree days one little bit. Thank goodness for AC.
- The highlights of our trip included a visit to the Reading Terminal Market for lunch, some sightseeing, Rita’s!, hanging at the nice, cool splash pad, visiting the most incredible children’s museum I have ever seen (Please Touch Museum), Magic Mike in New Jersey (all I have to say is WOW), watching Katy Rose and Cece become best buds, priceless laughs, and of course watching Jordyn Weiber make the Olympic team.
- What’s the opposite of a highlight? Lowlight? The only lowlight of the trip was spending a total of 22 hours in the car. My back is still recovering.
- Speaking of Jordyn, I can’t begin to explain the pride I feel for Jordyn, my former coaches and gym, who have accomplished so much, including now, being home to an Olympian! I cannot wait until London. Once a Twistar, always a Twistar!
- We spent 3 hours at Home Depot yesterday. Fun times. Especially since the computer that was processing our order crashed 3 times. With any luck, our kitchen will be finished in 3 weeks. The plan: new countertops, a new garbage disposal, microwave, range, dishwasher, and sink. I’ll have to remember to take some before and after pics.
- I am on a mission to find a swimsuit, weight belt, and goggles. A week from Friday I will be in Indiana training with the one and only Dr. Lavallee at 5:30 in the morning. His message to me: “Start training now, because I go hard. Oh, and we will have fun too.” What did I get myself in to? I just hope I can hang…and I don’t puke.
- I have been dreaming big about the 2nd annual Invisible Illness Benefit. I have a few long-shot ideas I’m gonna go for. You never know if you don’t, right? (Save the date! Saturday, April 13, 2013!) On a different note, it dawned on me that I never blogged about the first benefit. I’ll have to get working on that, since it was one of the most memorable nights of my life. It must be documented.
- Some people have asked how the Senate Bills that I testified against ended up. I found out from my lawyer that they were not voted on before the committee went on summer recess (which is a good thing). He told me that when they reconvene, he may need me to testify again in the fall. He also sent me a few law articles that I am featured in…It’s very interesting to read them since half of the things they have me quoted saying, I never said. I have learned through this process that it is good to have some thick skin when it comes to the press and politics.
- I finished my class with a 4.0. I’m so glad to have it done, behind me, and that I have zero homework for the rest of the summer. Woohoo!
