Wake Up Call

Written by Katie. Posted in Challenges, Favorites, Music

Sometimes you need a wake up call.  Usually I try not to whine about the little things that get me down about EDS and POTS, but yesterday I failed at this. Big time.

It was 84 degrees and sunny yesterday.  In all other years I would have been ecstatic about this weather; especially on April 10th.  I would have broken out my Reef flip flops and capris, and spent as much time as I could outside reading, relaxing, and soaking up some rays.  I would have also probably have gone and gotten my first pedicure of the season.

But not yesterday.  I whined and complained all day.  I even got on MY nerves after a while.

Five for Friday + 2…4/10/11

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

I was going to do “Seven for Sunday” but it just bugged me too much that it would throw off my consistent “Five For Fridays” posts…Maybe that’s my Montessori mind needing to have order and repetition, or maybe it’s just plain ol’ OCD.  Anyways, here’s my 5+2 for the week…

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • My blood work came back all normal.  Like I always remind myself, I still have my GOOD HEALTH!
  • 1 Day of PT.
  • 2 Days of strengthening exercises in Philly.  My glutes better be firing by now.
  • Back to reality this week.  Hardcore therapy and kale smoothies, here I come!

Getting It Out

Written by Katie. Posted in Challenges

I got a text from Allie a little while ago that said, “Where’s an update slacker?”  My response?  “You don’t want an update.  It’s been a rough few days.”

Then I thought if I only blog when things are good, then I am not being totally real about all of this, am I?  And maybe being “real” will show other EDS’rs or POTSIES that they are allowed to be human too.

So I’ll get right to the point.

Five For Friday 2/18/11

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 3 sessions of PT-2 strengthening and 1 soft tissue
  • 2 days of home rehab
  • Used my topical pain cream for the first time.  It did help take some of my back and neck pain away.  I love that it’s not another pill I have to take.
  • Had the Rest and Recovery Talk.
  • Had an hour session with Dr. Rosen.  He definitely helps me get my head on straight.

Gravity

Written by Katie. Posted in Goals

Do you remember how one of my 50 goals for 2011 is to choreograph a dance?  Growing up, I was always choreographing with gymnastics friends and my sister, and it has always been a love of mine.  I helped my sister choreograph one of her last floor routines.  Dancing is definitely a hobby that I want to work towards to be able to do again with stamina.
